Unit Profile:

The Cole State Jail Facility is managed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The Facility is located in Bonham, TX and is approximately four miles west of Bonham. The Facility opened it's doors on August 8, 1995. The Facility primarily houses state jail offenders with crimes ranging from Criminal Mischief to specific drug offenses, and may house up to 909 offenders at any given time.

With the assistance of approximately 327 employees and a tremendous volunteer program, this Facility offers a variety of treatment programs for it's offenders, such as Life Skills, Literacy Program, G.E.D., Preparation and Testing, Changes, Computer Lab and Computer Programing as well as many different types of Substance Abuse programs such as Phases I, II, III, and Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and Fellowship classes. Also offered are an abundance of Religious Programs.

Offenders are also able to participate in many of the ongoing community service programs that the Cole State Jail Facility is involved in such as cleaning and restoring of local parks and playgrounds, working with many departments of the local city and county agencies.

It is the goal of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Cole State Jail Facility to provide to the offenders, upon their termination of incarceration, a successful re-entry into the community.
